• Main accused, 12 others held for Kasba clash

  • Kolkata: A week after the clash, rampage, bombing and firing at Indu Park near Rajdanga in Kasba, cops arrested the main accused and local tough, Dinu Yadav, along with 12 others on Sunday.

    The total number of people nabbed in connection with the incident stood at 15.

    Yadav had been on the run after the incident at Kasba. Cops said their investigation was underway.

    Around 9.45pm on June 9, a group of 30 people had allegedly gone on a rampage during a clash between two groups, hurling bombs and firing at the spot.A second round of bomb attack took place around 11pm on the same night even as cops entered the locality.

    It was alleged that Dinu Yadav, along with 20 to 30 associates, had attacked locals during the clash. The accused not only fired shots but also hurled bombs in the area. Cops had recovered cartridge shells from the scene. Local residents accused Dinu and his associates of spreading terror.

    A local, Ruma Samaddar (26), a resident of P Majumdar Road was severely injured after miscreants had punched and kicked her. Locals claimed another young man was injured due to bomb splinters while a couple of parked two-wheelers were also damaged.

    Cops said Yadav had masterminded the attack.
