Kolkata: The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) conducted load test on Chetla RCC Bridge over Tolly’s Nullah on the early hours of Monday. The bridge was kept closed for around eight hours from 11pm on Sunday. The authorities have next planned to take up repair work or replace the damaged expansion joints of the bridge as well as conduct mechanized laying of mastic asphalt on its carriageway.Traffic was diverted on the adjacent connecting roads. Officials said the load test reports would be crucial for them to chalk out the repair work.
KMDA is also planning to take up repair and strengthening work on a few other bridges as well. Officials said a meeting of the bridge advisory committee will be held soon.
