Kolkata: A 48-year-old NRI died after being brutally thrashed by some rowdies at Dum Dum when he refused to give them money for buying liquor during a puja celebration on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Prakash Biswas, a Dubai resident, was in coma in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital after which he passed away at 9.45 pm.
One of the accused beaten up and injured seriously by a mob, was also admitted to RG Kar Hospital.Police have started an investigation.No one has been arrested yet.
Trouble broke out during the celebration of Shitala Puja at Chatakal near Dum Dum Cantonment railway gate 10.
