• ‘Monsoon may reach S Bengal in 4 days’

  • Kolkata: It can take at least four days for southwest monsoon to arrive in south Bengal, said the weathermen. Kolkata, however, can expect few spells of rain on Tuesday, according to the Met office. The monsoon currents are still stuck in north Bengal since its onset there on May 31.

    The northern limit of monsoon continues to pass through Islampur, stated a Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) bulletin on Monday.“The wind pattern is changing slowly.We expect the monsoon to advance further in south Bengal within four days,” said Sourish Bandyopadhyay, weather scientist at RMC, Kolkata. The maximum temperature in Kolkata was 36.2 °C, two notches above normal, on Monday. tnn
