Kolkata: The state’s agriculture department has released Rs 43 crore as one-time financial aid to 2,150 bereaved families of farmers under the Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit scheme in June. Under the scheme, if any farmer aged 18-60 dies, his family gets Rs 2 lakh as one-time payment irrespective of the cause of death. Since the launch of the scheme in 2019 by CM Mamata Banerjee, the agriculture department has provided assistance of Rs 2,240 crore to 1.1 lakh families.tnn
