Kolkata: Kolkata Police has requested the KMC to carry out certain uniform changes at all authorized parking lots so that motorists can have a seamless experience, the first step being to set up prominent boards across the length and breadth of each parking lot and the parking fare. Lalbazar has reportedly written a letter in this regard, said sources.
Kolkata Traffic Police is also meeting parking agents on ground across the city and explaining the dos and don’ts to them.The main among them is to wear ID cards at all times and to collect the parking fee only after issuing a proper ticket.
Other suggestions from cops are to set up a complaint number where motorists can lodge their complaints, a list of parking lots in the vicinity that can be accessed centrally and to ensure that only verified agents are entrusted to collect parking fees.
Cops have appealed to motorists to lodge written complaints at the local stations concerned so that they can draw up extortion FIRs.
