  • Kolkata: CM Mamata Banerjee reiterated on Monday that the state-endorsed colour scheme of blue and white should be maintained on all govt properties. During a meeting at Nabanna on Monday, she instructed clearly that the ‘colour code of the state’ be maintained strictly. She even lashed out at the BJP, without naming the party, and said some central govt properties, particularly that of the railways, were being painted in saffron. She asked if the people could also be painted in the same colour. “Can the hearts of people be saffronised?”

The CM felt that near Alipore Jail some walls were whitewashed, but as poor quality of colour was used, rain was washing away the paint. She wanted plastic paint on the walls. She directed chief secretary BP Gopalika to keep a tab on the colour code and check it with PWD.

She insisted that she never asks to use her party colour. She said the Centre had stalled funds as some wellness centres in the state were not in tune with the Centre’s colour code.
