Kolkata: MoS for defence Sanjay Seth inaugurated the second edition of the GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS) on Wednesday in the city. This initiative by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) aims to encourage MSMEs and startups to develop innovative solutions for ship design and construction, supporting the Make in India and Start-up India initiatives.
Seth highlighted that GAINS aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat policy, and that startups can play a significant role in nation-building. “The world is watching us as a young developing nation,” he said. He also stated that India is effectively protecting its borders on land and sea, and acknowledged GRSE’s contribution to this effort.
GRSE chairman and MD, PR Hari, expressed expectations for increased participation in this edition of GAINS. He noted that in the previous edition, six innovators were selected for detailed evaluation in Stage-II from 51 applications. pti
