Kolkata: A 38-year-old supplier of construction materials, Samsher Ali, was found murdered on Friday afternoon at his own home on the Samsul Huda Road at Karaya.
The victim had criminal antecedants, said police. “Around 12.40 pm, we were informed that Samsher had been found unconscious with a bleeding injury on his forehead. He might have been repeatedly hit on his forehead with a chopper,” said additional CP (I), Murlidhar Sharma.
A close aide of the victim, Rahul, is missing.An expensive bike, another two-wheeler, and the victim’s mobile phone are also missing. Locals claimed Samsher had been involved in social work since the Covid period. A senior police officer said Samsher had told his wife on Thursday night that he would stay in his study-cum-bedroom for some work, along with Rahul. On Friday morning, when he didn’t respond to calls, his wife informed other family members, who along with the neighbours, broke the door to find him lying on the floor, cops said.
