Kolkata woman catches metro molester, takes him to RPF

The packed Esplanade station where the molestation took place KOLKATA: A woman in her late 20s who was molested while trying to board a crowded Dakshineswar-bound train, grabbed her molester and handed him over to RPF and other police officers with help from other passengers on Sunday when thousands were at the station to attend the July 21 rally. The incident happened around 13.18 pm at Esplanade station on the blue line when the up train reached the station.The girl was accompanied by one of her friends during the incident.
"I was trying to board the train, my destination being Shyambazar where I live," said the victim who was completely traumatised even hours after the incident. She was initially taken to Metro Railway Kolkata Police office inside the metro station with the help of RPF and cops on duty.
A passenger on the platform said that the station was completely packed with passengers, mostly those who attended the rally at Esplanade apart from very few daily commuters. Due to the Sunday metro schedule trains were running at 15-min interval which mounted more pressure on passenger dispersal flow at the station. Moreover, the particular train which was scheduled to arrive at the station around 13.11 pm reached seven mins late which led to abnormal passenger pressure on the up line of the platform. "The culprit took advantage of the situation," another passenger said.
Till last reports RPF had taken the man to New Market police station even as he continued to beg for mercy.
