  • West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that she will share details with the NITI Aayog of money owed by the Centre to her state, before she reaches New Delhi to participate in a meeting on July 25.

“NITI Aayog asked us to send a written speech before the meeting, but I am used to giving extempore speeches. So, I am giving them the details…,” she said.

During the visit to Delhi, Banerjee said she will meet Trinamool Congress MPs.

Asked if she will meet Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, she said it is not necessary to meet everyone during the visit. She also said she is unsure about meeting the Prime Minister.

This would be Banerjee’s first visit to Delhi after the Lok Sabha elections.

The CM will raise the issue of pending central dues for MGNREGA and PMAY schemes with the Union government, said state administration sources.

A state finance department official said the demands may be considered, given that the NDA government does not have a significant majority this time.

On July 27, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to place the vision document of the Narendra Modi government’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ roadmap at the NITI Aayog meeting. All chief ministers have been requested to attend.

Banerjee used to attend NITI Aayog meetings initially but later deputed finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya to represent the state.
