  • BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Wednesday issued a helpline number 8455885031 for the public so that they can inform the Railways about the touts who cheat aspirants by promising jobs in the national transporter.

“If anybody asks for a bribe promising to provide you a job in the Railways or if you have any information of corruption, the person can inform the ECoR’s vigilance helpline number,” said the official sources.

The railway zone has appealed to job aspirants and their relatives not to fall prey in the hands of fraud who collects money by falsely promising jobs in the Railways. “Several fraud cases have come to the knowledge of the Railways in recent times. Innocent people are being cheated by the racketeers despite several steps taken by the Railways to control the tout menace,” said the ECoR statement.

The ECoR clarified to the aspirants that the Railway Board or Railway Recruitment Board or the Railway Ministry never nominates any agent or an outsourcing agency for recruitment. “Get a job through merit and hard work. Don’t fall prey to touts, brokers and racketeers to get a Railway job,” said a senior official.

He said the job aspirants can check the official websites of Railway Recruitment Boards, Railway Recruitment Cells and follow advertisements published by the newspapers. Only follow the official websites of Railways, he added.

The ECoR statement said some websites have published a notice claiming that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is recruiting constables. It was widely circulated on different social media platforms. “After fact check by the Railways, we found that it was completely fake,” said the official sources.
