• ‘Threat’ plaint: 3 profs lose MCH posts

  • Kolkata: The Medical College Hospital Kolkata (MCHK) council has removed three professors from administrative posts and debarred them from getting involved in student activities on Saturday, following charges of threatening a female student.

    The complaint dates back to June this year when a female student had alleged that she was asked to be part of the students’ union of TMCP.When she refused, she was reportedly threatened and told she would face problems in academia and that her father posted in a govt medical institute would be transferred.

    The complainant had provided proof of the allegations and none of the accused had deposed before the commission. On Saturday, the college council removed professor Manab Nandy from the post of dean of students affairs and assistant professor Suhena Sarkar from the post of assistant dean of students affairs as well as superintendent of the girls’ hostel. Assistant professor Ishita Sen, who did not hold any administrative post, has been debarred from taking part in academic activities until further notice.

    The enquiry report will be sent to the DME.
