  • Kolkata: Cops put out a message on the occasion of West Bengal Police Day on Sunday appealing to netizens to stop putting up misogynistic and hate posts while reminding protesters that thousands of women work in the force.

“Police are mothers too. West Bengal Police (like most police forces all over the world) comprises brave women and men. We are mothers too (not just fathers whose girls are growing up),” the state police posted on their ‘X’ handle.

Hoping that the slogans attacking them and their daughters stop, they further wrote, “Understanding this can help avoid stereotyping and being insensitive while writing slogans to attack us and our daughters. Our force is working 24x7 to maintain peace. Be kind. Be strong.”

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressing gratitude to police personnel posted on her ‘X’ handle, “On Police Day, I extend my salute to each and every policeperson for their timeless services. I am deeply grateful to all of you and to your families for the daily sacrifices you make to ensure our safety and security.”
