12 Kolkata: The director in-charge of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) wrote to the president of student union, rejecting their assertions that a faculty member of the department of direction and screenplay writing was compelled to resign by a faction of the institute's administration. The letter also conveyed implications to the present inquiry committee about the ramifications of opposing the official against whom the Internal Complaints Committee is conducting an investigation.
The students, however, are "thoroughly dissatisfied" with the administration's response and have resolved to ascertain their future course of action at a governing body meeting. "We understand and respect the sentiments expressed about her contributions to the institute. We wish to clarify that the reasons stated in your letter for her resignation are not correct," Samiran Datta, director in-charge wrote in the letter. He said she resigned on personal grounds.
