The woman in a complaint to the police alleged that she was at home alone last Thursday night, when the civic volunteer, Manoj Mondal, entered her home around 10.30 pm and raped her.

She said that her in-laws and other relatives were not at home as they had gone to attend Kali Puja. She said her husband works outside Malda.

The woman alleged that the accused beat up her relatives when they returned home before fleeing. Meanwhile, Malda SP Pradeep Kumar Yadav could not be reached for comment.
