• Kalimpong woman found dead in Siliguri

  • 12 Siliguri: A 30-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at Lower Bhanunagar under ward 42 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation on Friday. Police identified her as Pushpa Chettri, a resident of Gorubathan block in Kalimpong district. She had been living in a rented house in Bhanunagar and working at a beauty parlour in a mall on Sevok Road in Siliguri.

    On Friday morning, two colleagues went to her house but left on finding the door locked. They returned a while later and entered, and discovered her body drenched in blood.

    After receiving the information, cops from Bhaktinagar police station recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.

    A tenant, Shili Mitra, said, "Pushpa was last seen on Thursday night and was found dead the next morning. Her work friends found her lifeless body. I do not know what happened."

    Rakesh Singh, DCP (East), said: "There are sharp weapon injuries on the throat. An investigation has been initiated to trace the exact sequence of events."
