Harass cuffs on civic volunteer of KP for harassing women in an intoxicated state

A civic volunteer of Kolkata Police was arrested after he allegedly trespassed into a house in Entally in an intoxicated state and harassed women early on Saturday.
Police said a drunk Santosh Lal Prasad, a resident of Sambhu Babu Lane in Entally, had entered the house of a neighbour.
The women in the house started screaming, prompting neighbours to rush to their rescue.
The complainant — a young woman — has alleged that Prasad, a civic volunteer attached to Entally police station, had sneaked into her home early on Saturday when there were no men inside. She mentioned in her complaint that Prasad was drunk.
Kolkata Police, which involve thousands of civic volunteers in various activities, faced severe criticism after a civic volunteer was accused of raping and murdering a young doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital three months ago.
The barbarity had caught the attention of the Supreme Court, which sought a report from the Bengal government on why and how civic volunteers were recruited.
The incident in Entally again left the police red-faced.
An officer said Prasad had been arrested and departmental action started against him.
The mother of the woman who complained said: “My daughter and I were sleeping when I suddenly heard a sound. I woke up and saw Santosh standing in our room. He was staring at my daughter in a bad way. I woke her up and we started screaming. He was drunk,” the mother said.
The woman's husband, a newspaper vendor, had left for work keeping the door unlocked.
