  • Kolkata: Of the 104 MA Bengali first-semester examinees from four colleges, whose answer scripts went missing, Calcutta University handed special option forms to the college representatives on Monday to distribute them.

Marks of the other four or three papers were mentioned on the option forms for the students to select their choice. Two options were given to those whose scripts were burnt while three options were given to those whose scripts went missing after they were evaluated and marks were uploaded. The college representatives were handed the option form with a letter to the principal detailing the process that students have to follow.

One principal said, "It is very unfortunate that I have to tell students to choose alternative options while they have been waiting to get their mark sheets for six months when they are not responsible for this. We have been telling them not to be anxious about their scripts, and now I don't know how to deal with them. I called all of them to meet the department heads who will to guide them on what they have to do. However, the examiner should be punished for this casual nature while dealing with the future of these students."

Answer scripts of 104 MA Bengali students, who appeared for their first-semester exams in April, went missing. The CU syndicate, the highest decision-making body, decided to offer options to students to accept the highest marks among the rest of their papers as the lost script or take a fresh exam.

Among the 120 answer scripts that went missing, 65 went missing after the evaluation and marks were uploaded. Those students were given options to either accept the uploaded marks, knowing that they won't be able to apply for a review, or accept the highest marks as the score of the lost paper, or take a fresh test. The score of each paper out of 50 marks was mentioned on the option form that the students have to select and return to the college authority. The university will then declare the final result of these students whose results were declared ‘incomplete'.
