1234 Kolkata: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has decided to make modifications in the changed syllabus as it aims to reduce the extra load for some subjects like history, political science, English, Bengali and science of well-being. It introduced a semester system this academic session.
WBCHSE President Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said, "The HS syllabus for each subject was revised in 2012, and it was comprehensive and time-appropriate. After the first semester examination, we revised it again and took opinions from teachers' bodies where we felt some areas needed fine-tuning." The council forwarded certain recommendations for these subjects to the sub-committee of each subject under the syllabus committee. The revised syllabus will be implemented once the report is submitted to the council.
Bhattacharjee emphasised that the syllabus committee is now working mainly on the first semester and, to some extent, the second semester course curriculum.
A notice was also issued by the council for practicals and projects that alerted schools to be careful while uploading marks.
