Earlier, the BJP state unit decided that in a three-day break (December 6-8) from the winter session of the legislative assembly, they would go to Ayodhya.
Adhikari said, “The way minorities are being attacked in Bangladesh… now we have postponed the program to visit Ram Mandir. Also, Chinmoy Maharaj’s bail hearing has been postponed. In this case, we are not going to visit the Ram Mandir now.”
The Ram Mandir was inaugurated in Ayodhya on January 22 this year. BJP MLAs from West Bengal wanted to go there then, but did not, as Lok Sabha polls had just been announced.
A source in the BJP said that the opposition leader is keeping an eye on Chinmay Krishna Das’ bail application status before he may reschedule the visit, seeing as there will be a one-day break in the Union Budget Session next February.
For now, several BJP MLAs are focused on the alleged atrocities in Bangladesh — many have sought permission from the opposition leaders to hold programs in their own areas.
Incidentally, Bhagwanpur BJP MLA Rabindranath Maiti went to Ayodhya to visit Ram Lala on the day of the Ram Mandir’s inauguration. However, he is waiting to visit with his fellow party members again.
