  • Howrah: Two men, who claimed to be pilgrims from Dehradun — Dal (52) and Gama (55) Singh — were allegdly thrashed with sticks and rods in Liluah's Chakpara around Sunday noon on suspicion of theft. They were assaulted while seeking alms door-to-door apparently to fund their pilgrimage to Gangasagar. One of them, who was critically injured, is admitted at Belur Hospital.

    The other is being questioned by Liluah Police. Cops said language barrier and miscommunication led to the chaos. Probe is on. tnn
