Kalyani: The Ranaghat Police, with help from the cyber wing of Bengal Police, nabbed 13 inter-state cyber fraudsters from across three northern and western Indian states for duping 104 victims across India in the past year through the digital arrest scam.
Six of these victims are from Bengal.
The amount involved is estimated to be Rs 42 crore. The cops, though, accepted that the arrested individuals are just foot soldiers and that their real masters are operating from Dubai and Cambodia.

We arrested seven persons from Maharashtra and three each from Gujarat and Haryana. The police team has so far seized several bank accounts and recovered around Rs 4 lakh.
The probe started after a Kalyani resident complained that he fell prey to digital arrest and lost around Rs 1 crore to a fake Maharashtra cop. Kalyani Cyber Police received the complaint on Nov 6.
Siddharth Dhapola, Addl SP, HQ, Ranaghat Police District, said this is the biggest number of arrests in India in digital arrest cases this year through a single probe.
