• Mutual transfer site opens after 2 years

  • Kolkata: The state govt's Utsashree portal has finally opened for mutual transfer of teachers and educational staff after staying shut for more than two years.

The govt on Dec 31 issued a directive, saying that except for mutual transfers, general and special transfers will stay suspended for the smooth completion of the recruitment process alongside counselling of the para teachers for upper primary classes. The notification also mentioned that this directive will be in effect until June 30. Alongside the school education department, the primary education board also issued the same directive on Dec 31.

The Utsashree portal was launched in 2021 for the transfer of teachers and educational staff in the state. Through this portal, govt employees can apply for transfers online to any part of the state. When two employees mutually agree to swap their workplaces, it is known as a ‘mutual transfer'. This type of transfer fulfils the employees' wishes without leaving any vacancy in govt institutions. According to the govt directive, this type of transfer can be processed through the portal. The portal was shut down in 2022.

If a candidate generally applies for a transfer or requests a transfer for special reasons (such as health, marital or other reasons), there is a possibility of a vacancy at their current institution. These two types of transfers remain suspended for now.
