The incident occurred around 9 pm when Supriyo, who was driving his vehicle, confronted Gangopadhyay, accusing him of dangerous driving and honking repeatedly. Supriyo also accused the former Calcutta High Court judge of using abusive language, while Gangopadhyay denied the allegations.
On the other hand, the MP, who represents Tamluk constituency, claimed that Supriyo was intoxicated and verbally abused him.
In a video that has surfaced, singer-turned-TMC leader Supriyo can be heard demanding that the BJP MP should apologise for his actions. Though the MP did not get down from the car, Gangopadhyay’s security guards were seen trying to pacify Supriyo.
Supriyo also alleged that Gangopadhyay’s car was constantly sounding the siren which, he claimed, was not permissible as the MP’s car had no identification. However, the car reportedly had a board that said ‘MP from Tamluk’.
The police stepped in to control the situation even as a massive crowd gathered at the spot.
