12 Kolkata: IG BSF north Bengal Soorya Kant Sharma interacted with local youths and encouraged them to take up sports at a village coordination meeting at Choosepara Border Outpost on Saturday. He distributed sports kits to promote a culture of sports and fitness. The move was an attempt to foster better relations between the forces and youths of Naljuapara and Bhujalipara villages.
"The village coordination meetings are held to discuss major concerns, including the present situation in Bangladesh, trans-border crimes, and the maintenance of peace and security within the region. These meetings also sought to foster better cooperation between the locals and the security forces," stated the BSF. A senior BSF officer said that targeting youths early could also help in combating misinformation.
"By making necessary arrangements for last glimpse to daughters living in Bangladesh after the death of their mother living in India, or by engaging with villagers by providing them medical help or encouraging them to take up sports, we once again proved our motto ‘Jeevan Paryant Kartavye'," stated BSF.
