Temp to start dipping today, Met predicts 16°C tomorrow

Kolkata: As predicted by the Met office, the minimum temperature rose to 22.2 degrees on Thursday, 5.3 notches above the normal mark. With the moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, the maximum temperature also climbed to 30.2 degrees Celsius. But the Met office has forecast a dip in both the day and night temperature from Friday.
"We expect the minimum temperature to go down to around 19°C by Friday and then further to around 16°C by Saturday. The mercury will stay around this mark for the next two to three days," said H R Biswas, head of the weather forecast section at Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata.
A fog blanket on Thursday morning notwithstanding, the Met office has ruled out any more fog after this as dry northwesterly winds will start blwing in, instead of the warm southerly winds that bring in moisture from the Bay of Bengal. But as the strength of this wind system will not be high, it will not bring in the chill. The weather would, however, remain pleasant with a cold feel in the mornings.
Another western disturbance was likely to push up the mercury by mid-next week, said Met officials, adding that once the system came over the northwestern part, the wind system would change, and the city would start getting moisture from the Bay of Bengal.
