  • 123 Kolkata: The condition of all three members of the Tangra family, admitted to Ruby General Hospital, is stable. Doctors said that while they are out of danger, they will continue to receive treatment in the hospital's intensive care unit as all three need further observation after the massive accident.

Doctors said that they were cooperating with doctors and nurses in their treatment and were answering health-related questions without hesitation.

"We receive accident victims regularly, and we usually see trauma evident on their faces. However, in the case of these three, they are unusually calm and composed, including the boy, as if nothing is amiss," said a doctor at the hospital.

The three are admitted to the same ICU, which has 17 beds. Although they are unable to see each other as they are a few beds apart, sources in the hospital said that they were enquiring about each other's condition from attending nurses.

"Even in the case of the minor boy who underwent a transfusion of two blood units, we see no apprehension, no sign of any ordeal or trauma. While this could also be due to the effects of sedatives they are on for easing pain, this absolute calmness is very rare in road traffic accident victims we have encountered," said another doctor.

Prasun Dey, the elder of the two brothers, will undergo surgical procedures to repair multiple cuts and fractures, while Pranay has already underwent an orthopaedic procedure for a hip joint fracture and traction of the right lower limb.

The 14-year-old boy is also undergoing treatment for multiple fractures, including one in the right wrist and cut injuries. He required a blood transfusion.

"The nature of the injuries in any of the three does not seem life-threatening. But since this was an accident, they need to be kept under close observation in the ICU so that we can detect any changes immediately," said a Ruby Hospital doctor involved in their treatment.
