  • 123 Kolkata: Viewers of Bengali content are used to watching feature films on the big screen, serials and both on OTT platform. Now comes the chance to watch a hybrid content format, TV-style episodic storytelling, enhanced by the accessibility of digital platforms.

Launched at the "Golper Parbon 1432", hoichoi TV+ is aimed to be an alternative to traditional television. The approximate reach of Bengali OTT users is four million households.

According to Soumya Mukherjee, COO, hoichoi: "hoichoi TV+ breaks away from the conventional TV mould, redefining storytelling with richer characters and bold narratives that traditional television can't explore. It follows a structure closer to theatrical films, cinematic in essence, yet unfolding in an episodic format with regular drops. Unlike conventional TV, which adheres to familiar patterns, hoichoi TV+ dares to be dynamic, immersive and unpredictable."

The episodic streaming category is aimed to redefine how audiences experience long-format narratives. The idea is to offer multi-episode series with a distinctive blend of serialised storytelling and on-demand convenience. Unlike conventional TV content, where rigid schedules dictate viewership, this option will deliver multi-episode shows with scheduled releases, ensuring an engaging, immersive storytelling experience that audiences can savour anytime, anywhere.

"The core format of TV+ revolves around multiple episode drops every week. However, we're still refining the monetization strategy and may introduce a unique model alongside it. To maximize accessibility, we plan to offer several free episodes upfront — potentially releasing five-six episodes on a Friday or even adopting a structured weekend drop model," Mukherjee added.
