• Creativity & innovation at 3-day biennial school exhibition

  • Kolkata: The biennial exhibition of South Point School and South Point High School was held on Jan 20, 21 and 22 at the South Point School premises and was inaugurated by artist Parag Roy on Jan 20. Open to visitors from 12 noon to 6pm. each day, the exhibition featured a wide range of art and craft exhibits showcasing the creativity of students from nursery to class XII. Greeting cards, transport models, nameplates, letter boxes, cutlery holders, dolls, paintings, wall hangings, lamps, fans, aprons and cushion covers were displayed, while senior students worked on large canvases, wooden panels and plates, creating fountains, resin clocks, fridge magnets, key rings, candle stands, coasters, handmade bags, tote bags, cushion covers, lamp shades and lino-print calendars.

    Students put up engaging projects on diverse themes. Live demonstrations and project work formed a major segment of the South Point High School exhibition, with all departments presenting themes of local relevance and global importance. Chemistry showcased "Chemistry in Action – Sustaining the Future", Physics highlighted "Living with Physics", Economics focused on the growing gig economy, Sociology explored "The Myth Behind Beauty", and Political Science presented Environmental Politics. Geography displayed its varied branches, History took visitors back to Ancient Egypt, Bengali highlighted the role of rivers in literature, Hindi paid tribute to Amir Khusru, English explored seasons in literature, while Computer Science and Biology presented "Securing the Cyber Space" and "A Walk Through the Therapeutic Time Tunnel".

    Various stage performances were also be held during the course of the three-day event.
