CISCE launches portal to map and pay ICSE and ISC invigilators

Kolkata: CISCE will monitor all its ICSE and ISC invigilators—right from deployment to duty—through new portal, ‘Integrated Payment System', which will be launched on Thursday.
The CISCE Class XII exams or ISC will start on Thursday, while the Class X boards or ICSE will start on Feb 17.
Every invigilator assigned to CISCE board exam duties will be mapped on the portal, and the number of invigilators on duty will be validated through the online system. The portal, which will maintain the records of invigilators' deployment, attendance, conveyance and other details, is a unified platform for exam functionary mapping and attendance-tracking, supported by role-based responsibilities and controlled access for invigilators as well as observers, examiners, centre heads, inspectors, principals and others.
Till last year, the chief convener, convener and exam centres monitored the process.
Joseph Emmanuel, chief executive and secretary, told TOI, "We are introducing an online portal, on which we will record the number of invigilators at each centre, and their work will be validated through the system. Payments will be released to the functionaries after the exams, based on the data. The aim is to make the process easier and maintain proper records that participants can check by logging into the portal. The payment system for facilitators by the centres will be auto-calculated."
ISC and ICSE candidates appear for their boards at their own schools but invigilators come from other schools. One invigilator is assigned for every 30 students.
Teachers and principals welcomed the move, pointing out the manual process led to several discrepancies. A convener said, "The portal will have all records, so there will be no question of manipulation." A teacher, who has been invigilating for both ISC and ICSE for years, said, "The council is making the system smooth. It's a welcome move that payments will be made directly to functionaries."
